Off-season marketing for Mallorca hotels and restaurants
Winter and shoulder-season marketing should begin with what your business will actually offer, not with a discounted version of a summer campaign. Hotels and restaurants need clear dates, a relevant reason to visit and visuals that reflect the experience available at that time.
Start with an operations calendar
Map opening dates, available room categories, restaurant services and any planned closures before discussing creative. Agree who checks the calendar and how quickly ads or scheduled posts can be paused when plans change, so marketing does not outlive the operation it describes.
Identify the capacity you genuinely want to support. That might be a particular dining service, a short stay during an open period or advance enquiries for the next season. Do not promote a facility simply because it appears in a strong summer video. Verify the destination page as carefully as the ad: dates, conditions and available services must tell the same story from the first impression through to the reservation confirmation.
Choose a seasonal reason that is true
Build the message around a real experience rather than assuming everyone needs a lower price. If available, an indoor meal, a city stay or time in the property’s actual shared spaces can provide the starting point. Only mention activities, menus or arrangements that are confirmed. A visitor considering Palma and a local resident planning dinner in Santa Ponsa may need different reasons and different practical information to take action.
Avoid claiming that winter guarantees empty beaches, perfect weather or unrestricted access to attractions. You do not control those conditions. Instead, explain what your own business provides and what guests should verify separately. If you publish ideas for outings to Sóller or Alcúdia, make clear that plans depend on current opening information and conditions. Useful preparation builds a more credible invitation than a seasonal slogan detached from the real stay.
Refresh the visuals before reusing summer assets
Review your library for details that could mislead: outdoor service not offered now, a seasonal menu, a pool that is unavailable or clothing that suggests a different experience. Some archive footage may still be accurate, but choose it deliberately and label it where needed. Capture real interiors, current dishes and the actual room categories being promoted. Show the comfort and atmosphere that exist, rather than adding a fireplace or facility in post-production.
A real camera shoot is better for present-day weather, food, room layouts and the feel of an indoor service. AI can help with campaign mood, transitions and language variations, but a real property or dish must be based on the client’s material. Do not generate sunshine to imply a weather promise or invent seasonal amenities. Keep the creative distinction clear between an expressive campaign treatment and evidence of what someone is booking.
Separate audiences and next steps
Create distinct briefs for people able to visit soon and people researching a future trip. The first group needs current availability, service times and a direct booking route. The second needs confirmed reopening information and a clear way to enquire or receive updates with permission. Do not send both groups to an outdated summer page. If you gather contact details, explain the purpose and use an appropriate consent process.
Prepare language versions that match the intended audience and the landing page. Spanish may suit one local brief; English, German or Swedish may suit another campaign, depending on whom you want to reach. These are choices to test, not guarantees about demand. Align organic posts, paid creative and the answers given by staff so a guest does not receive one promise in a Reel and another in a direct message.
Run a small test and plan the next review
Choose one opening period, one audience and one measurable action. Compare a couple of creative approaches while holding the offer stable where possible. Review relevant enquiries, booking-page visits and completed bookings when tracking allows it. Record cancellations and recurring questions as well as interest. Lower views do not automatically mean failure, and higher engagement does not establish revenue; assess whether the campaign supports the service you actually need to fill.
Ia Mallorca can develop seasonal AI images, videos and paid social creative from approved material. First concepts arrive in 48–72 hours, and delivered content includes full commercial rights. A one-off creative pilot is €490; real estate plans start at €290/month (6-month commitment), taxes extra. Posting, ad management and media spend are quoted separately. Send confirmed operating dates, current visuals, audience, booking link and restrictions to start with a brief that reflects the real season.
Frequently asked questions
Should we advertise if the hotel is closed?
You can promote confirmed future stays or handle reopening enquiries, but clearly state the relevant dates and do not imply that rooms are available now.
Do we need a winter discount?
Not automatically. Start with the real experience and capacity you want to promote; use only offers and conditions the business has approved.
Can summer footage be reused?
Only where it remains accurate. Remove or explain seasonal features that are unavailable, and use current material for the experience being sold.
What should restaurants measure?
Look at useful enquiries and bookings for the promoted service, with tracking limits acknowledged. Views alone cannot establish covers or revenue.
